Phase 1: The Protein Diet

Designed to trigger weight loss, the meal plan of Phase 1: strict high-protein diet allows for very rapid weight loss (up to -2.5 kilos) of fat mass.
With the production of ketone bodies (ketogenesis) and muscle mass protection, you lose weight without hunger or fatigue. At the same time, you discover the first rules of your future balance: consuming proteins and (re)developing a taste for vegetables.

You will follow Phase 1 until you have reached 70% of your weight loss goal. If your weight loss goal is 15 kg, you should stay at this Phase until you have lost a maximum of 10.5 kg. At this stage, the average observed weight loss is -2 kg to -2.5 kg per week.

How does the protein diet work?

Understanding Level 1 of the high-protein diet

The protein diet triggers a very specific and highly beneficial process from the very first hours of treatment: Ketogenesis. Ketogenesis corresponds to the production of ketone bodies linked to the breakdown of fat, and therefore to weight loss. It results in a slight change in breath and occurs within the first 48 hours. It is fully activated by the second day of the diet. The ketone bodies produced will help you enjoy this phase with pleasure. With their naturally anorexigenic effect (feeling of satiety) and psychotonic effect (you feel energized): you will lose weight without hunger or fatigue. Following a low-calorie, high-protein diet will be ideal for losing weight quickly, simply and without risk.

Warning: Ketogenesis is activated only if your carbohydrate intake is less than 30 grams per day; this threshold is reached by strictly following the meals and foods allowed in the program. Your weight loss program consists of high-protein sachets Cétofine 21, allowed vegetables, sugar-free beverages, seasonings and a vitamin supplement (to provide you with the vitamins and minerals you need to lose weight without deficiencies).

Any deviation (sugar, bread, fruit, yogurt, dairy products...), even minimal, can stop the ketogenesis process: you stop losing weight, the feeling of hunger reappears, and 2 to 3 days of additional effort will be necessary to make up for this deviation.

To help you follow the Cetofine 21 program, here is the meal plan for Phase 1:

The foods of the high-protein weight loss diet

Cétofine 21 High-Protein Sachets

Low in carbohydrates and very rich in amino acids, Cétofine 21 high-protein products nourish and protect your muscle mass. To compose the indicated meals, choose your high-protein sachets on the website. They will serve as meal replacements without feeling deprived. For example, you can enjoy a Chocolate Chip Pancake for breakfast, a Cocoa Drink at 10am, a Cheese Omelet at noon accompanied by a good salad... The goal is to consume low-calorie, high-protein meals to shed excess weight quickly.

Vegetables Allowed During the High-Protein Diet

At lunch and dinner, you accompany Cétofine 21 high-protein products with vegetables selected for their low sugar content. Vegetables should be consumed raw and/or cooked, plain or seasoned (see our suggestions at the bottom of the page), varying as much as possible from one meal to another:

  • GROUP 1 (to be consumed freely but without excess, approximately one plate per meal): Asparagus, mushrooms, raw or cooked green cabbage, cooked Romanesco cabbage, raw or cooked cauliflower, broccoli, cooked celery stalks, cucumber, raw or cooked spinach, cooked leeks, raw or cooked Swiss chard, radishes, salads, watercress, gherkins, green bell pepper, cooked artichoke, cooked zucchini.
  • GROUP 2 (to be limited to 200g per day, or 100g per meal): Raw or cooked white cabbage, celeriac, eggplant, bean sprouts, raw or cooked endive, red cabbage, green beans, yellow bell pepper, red bell pepper, tomato, cooked Brussels sprouts, turnip, cooked spaghetti squash, butternut, pumpkin, raw or cooked kale.

A comprehensive article on vegetables is available here. One might think that all plant-based foods are good for weight loss, but that's not entirely true.* The documentation you receive indicates artichokes and broccoli in Group 2, they will be updated soon.

Water During Your Weight Loss Diet (minimum 1.5 liters per day)

The protein diet requires a very high water intake. It is therefore essential to drink as much as possible: still or sparkling water, flavored, sugar-free (with fruit peel), plain or flavored tea, light coffee, herbal tea… One rule to remember: the more you drink, the better you lose weight! Just as important as Cétofine 21 high-protein products, water and vegetables, dietary supplements will help you avoid deficiencies and fatigue. Remember to take them without fail.

All other foods are forbidden: garlic, potatoes, carrots, beets, corn, meats, yogurts, cheeses, fruits, bread... Fruit juices, alcoholic beverages, ready-to-drink beverages, syrups, sodas (even diet), drinks with sweeteners (like coca-cola) are also forbidden. Your metabolism is not ready to consume these foods, they will be reintroduced during the high-protein program.

Cooking during Phase 1, discovering allowed vegetables

Low in calories, vegetables are natural sources of foods rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Here are some tips to better understand them and learn how to prepare them properly.

How to cook my vegetables and season them during the high-protein diet?

Vegetables are very important during the high-protein diet. Some will be unlimited (cauliflower, spinach, salad, radish, asparagus, cucumber...), others will be limited (turnip, green beans, eggplant, red pepper, pumpkin...) and others will only be allowed at certain levels (especially for their sugar content: carrot, corn, beet...).

You will receive documentation with the allowed vegetables at each level with your first order, but you can also find our complete article on vegetables recommended during your high-protein diet.

You can season your vegetables with one tablespoon per meal of vegetable oil: rapeseed oil, walnut oil, soybean oil and olive oil.

You may wonder how to consume or cook them with little fat (raw, grilled, steamed, in soup, pureed, in ratatouille, stir-fried...).

Many options are possible to fully enjoy all vegetables and not get bored during your weight loss diet. Moreover, these tips are also valid after your slimming diet to maintain good eating habits. Find our cooking and seasoning tips here.

The effects of the protein diet on your body

The high-protein diet is a dietary program that limits fat and sugar in favor of protein. This weight loss program is based on dietary rules to be followed, and your body may not be used to it.
What to do in case of...

  • Constipation: Mild constipation is normal and related to the decrease in food intake. Drink Hépar water, which is rich in magnesium, and if it persists, increase the portion of cooked vegetables. If you're really uncomfortable, you can take a mild laxative.
  • Headaches: These are rare and may occur at the beginning of the program. In this case, increase the portion of salt in your vegetables and drink at least 2 liters of water per day.
  • Bad breath: This phenomenon is normal and corresponds to the elimination of ketone bodies through the respiratory tract. It's a sign that you're following the diet correctly, as it proves you're in ketosis, and therefore losing weight. If it becomes too bothersome, use a mouth spray or sugar-free chewing gum.
  • Any other side effect should be reported to your doctor.

After Phase 1 of the protein diet

When you have reached 70% of your weight loss goal, you start Phase 2. The only change is a meal of natural food proteins (lean meats, dairy products, and lean fish) replacing a protein shake at lunch or dinner. In any case, the weight loss program should neither be interrupted nor stopped abruptly. Abruptly stopping the weight loss diet without following Phases 3 and 4 will result in weight regain.

You can stay in Phase 1 until you have reached 70% of your weight loss goal. If your initial goal is to lose 15 kg, you should move to phase 2 when you have lost 10.5 kg. However, if you wish, you can start Phase 2 earlier. You can use Phase 1 to kickstart your rapid weight loss, then move to Phase 2 as soon as you want to reintegrate a more traditional meal.

At the end of Phase 1, you begin the mixed diet (phase 2) and you will follow all phases of the weight loss diet until your weight stabilizes.
