Monitoring during your diet

Before starting a high-protein diet

Being overweight, whether chronic or occasional, recent or long-standing, corresponds to excessive storage of fat in adipose tissues. There are 3 types of overweight, each of which falls within the indications for the protein diet:

  • Low to moderate overweight (5 to 8 kg)
  • Moderate to significant overweight (8 to 12 kg)
  • Significant overweight and obesity (12 kg and more, BMI > 28)

Calculate your body mass index before starting the high-protein diet

The BMI calculation is used to assess a person's weight status (i.e., if they are underweight, overweight, etc.):

BMI = Weight (kg) / Height² (in meters)

Example: For a woman who is 1.69 meters tall and weighs 76 kilos, we get: 76/1.69² = 26.6

BMI < 18.5

You need to gain weight. Ask your doctor for advice on regaining a good nutritional balance. Your well-being depends on it.

18.5 < BMI < 25

You are in the ideal average range, you don't need to diet. You should simply focus on maintaining your weight and continue eating a balanced diet.

BMI > 25

You should consider a weight loss program to regain your ideal weight. The Cetofine 21 program can help you achieve your goals.

Perform a morphometric examination

Apart from cases of obesity (which will be revealed by calculating the BMI presented above), you more often want to address a problem of "shape" rather than weight. Morphometry allows you to assess the areas to be treated: measurement of perimeters (shoulder, chest, waist, hip, thigh, and calf circumferences), and measurement of anteroposterior diameters (shoulders, waist, hips) using a tailor's tape measure (for perimeter) or a height gauge (for diameter). In this case, sports activity coupled with a weight loss diet allows you to gain muscle, tone up, and maintain your ideal weight.

Define your weight loss goals

Contacting our advisors will allow you to discuss your goal for weight loss. Generally, you know what's problematic for you: the "few centimeters here" or the "few kilos there". It's important to set a realistic and achievable goal. Our advisors can monitor your weight loss as you progress through your high-protein diet.

Neither too high nor too low, your weight goal should be a compromise. This should take into account height, muscle mass, bone structure, age... In general, we talk about regaining your ideal weight. This goal can be set in terms of kilos ("I think I'm 15 kilos overweight"), centimeters ("Two years ago, my waist was 70cm... Today, it's 82!"), or clothing size ("I'd like to fit back into the small size 40 I wore in my 30s!").

It should be noted that even if the high-protein diet allows for quick weight loss, it also allows for developing good eating habits in the long term. We avoid excesses, fats, and favor lean meat and vegetables.

The advantages of the high-protein diet

The protein diet is an effective nutritional tool to quickly treat excess weight and obesity. Its main advantages are:

  • rapid weight loss (up to -3 kilos per week)
  • the simplicity and clarity of the phase sheets and their simplified use

  • the pleasure thanks to 180 protein products (the protein used is of high biological value)
  • ease, in this diet, there is no excessive weighing of food

The objectives of follow-up during the Cetofine 21 program

Following up during the program has many advantages:

  • Check the progress of your actual weight loss, and ask all your questions
  • Define the goal for the coming week, included in the overall weight loss objective. Sometimes it will be necessary to return to the previous level, or on the contrary, move more quickly to the next level if the weight loss is good.
  • Monitor side effects and address them if necessary.
  • Establish a balanced relational dynamic on medical, dietary, and psychological levels. The doctor becomes a privileged interlocutor for the patient who often feels vulnerable due to their weight problems.
  • Monitor weight stabilization after the high-protein diet: we avoid regaining fat. We ensure that the patient has a balanced diet to avoid shocking their metabolism.

Psychological support during weight loss

Overcoming excess weight is not just a matter of diet, nutrition, or physical activity. Bulimic, compulsive, or anorexic behaviors attest to the influence of the psyche on the body. Thus, the mental aspect plays a significant role in excess weight. Excess pounds weigh as much on the body as on the mind.

Working on motivations: your motivation may be put to the test during the protein diet. You might even get discouraged or lose confidence... This weight loss appointment can also channel you, encourage you, and provide the psychological support you need. This assessment also allows you to better understand yourself and analyze the deep motivations for which you want to lose weight, to work on self-confidence: you need to regain confidence in yourself and (re)build a positive personality. Leitmotif: "I deserve to feel good in my own skin". Finally, to work on behavior control to maintain high motivation.

Who is the protein diet for?

The protein diet is suitable for anyone, men and women, who want to lose weight (the minimum indication starts at 2 kilos of excess weight). The protein diet is very useful in all cases where rapid weight loss without muscle loss is necessary. Preparation for surgical interventions, professional and sports obligations, arthritis, rehabilitation, treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes (stabilization of blood sugar)... The high-protein diet is based on meal replacements and does not require physical activity, although it is recommended.

With the preservation of muscle mass and calorie reduction, you lose weight quickly. Thanks to the stabilization phases, weight gain after the slimming diet is also avoided.

Who is the protein diet not for?
